Tees Music Alliance is a Music Development Organisation, but what does this mean?! Through our activities and premises we help those looking to gain experience and confidence in the music sector on their first steps forward...

Music Development

Tees Music Alliance has over 30 years experience of helping local music activists to improve and achieve more with their music output. In our view a 'music activist' can be a band or solo artist; a record label or publishing company; or any enterprise that uses music to contribute to the economy.

We run a range of development initiatives and we collaborate with a variety of agencies in order to deliver opportunities for music activists - including regular advice surgeries and our On Point music industry conference.

Our inaugural artist residency, The Green House, ran during October 2023 - you can find out more about what went on by clicking here.

As well as developing projects and ideas, we are very willing to listen to any ideas that people may have, that we may in turn be able to turn into a project together. Feel free to e-mail us at info@teesmusicalliance.org.uk with any suggestions.

From Teesside with Love was the title for TMA's most regular programme of activity aimed at helping musicians, songwriters and music businesses to earn some money from their work.

Running since early 2000, the project took on several incarnations involving (amongst other things)...

A micro-record label releasing occasional material by Teesside based songwriters... Regular 'showcase' gigs staged at our venue, The Georgian Theatre, to promote our emerging musicians & songwriters... Visits to music industry events and conferences... Regular advice sessions from key music industry experts and organisations...

We continue to support those in need of advice, or a helping hand on that first step of the ladder.

We currently run a weekly drop in session to sit down with artists to discuss any issues they may be having in moving on to the next stage of their careers - or how we might help with achieving their aspirations.  Drop us an email to find out more.

We've also got a great directory of useful links for music activists to browse.

Volunteer

At Tees Music Alliance we recognise the value of volunteers and are continually striving to open up volunteering opportunities to interested individuals.  Volunteering with TMA offers a unique opportunity to gain real insight into the music industry as well as the opportunity to gain new skills. We are looking for switched on, interested and keen individuals who want to get on and don't mind getting stuck into whatever comes along.

From time to time, we promote projects for volunteers to get involved with our work - including some of our larger events and activities.

At the moment, we have reduced our volunteering opportunities in the wake of Covid-19... but please keep checking our social media channels for up to date information on any opportunities that come up.
